Why Move Beyond Traditional Reinforcement?

Traditional reinforcement systems such as welded wire reinforcement (WWR) and steel fibers are widely used in concrete slabs, but each system presents structural and construction limitations.

Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR)

WWR has long been used to provide temperature and shrinkage reinforcement in concrete slabs. However, it reinforces only a single two-dimensional plane, limiting its ability to control cracking throughout the concrete volume.

Its effectiveness also depends heavily on proper placement. Mesh may shift or settle during pouring, and installation requires tying and supports, increasing labor, construction time, and potential corrosion risks.

Steel Fiber Reinforcement

Steel fibers provide good strengthening and toughening effects, improving post-crack load capacity and impact resistance. However, due to the limited number of fibers per unit volume, crack control performance is relatively limited.

Steel fibers may also introduce practical limitations during construction and service, including limited dispersion during mixing, reduced pumpability, challenges in achieving smooth floor finishes, potential corrosion risks, and higher overall material costs due to typically higher dosage.

How Rimix™ 3D Reinforces Concrete Floors

Rimix™ 3D is a Structural Reinforcement System for concrete floors that distributes high-performance macro synthetic fibers throughout the mix, creating millions of distributed secondary reinforcements that can replace welded wire reinforcement (WWR) used for crack control.

At the same dosage volume, Rimix™ 3D provides 5–10 times more fibers than steel fibers, forming a dense distributed 3D reinforcement network that intercepts and controls cracks more effectively throughout the slab.

Engineered specifically for floor applications, Rimix™ 3D improves bond strength, pull-out resistance, and finishability, while its high tensile strength enhances post-crack residual strength, flexural toughness, and impact resistance, reducing cracking and extending floor service life.
