Copper-Coated Micro Steel Fiber Overview

PNE® MS-6013 is a copper-coated micro steel fiber engineered from high-strength wire, featuring a 13 mm length and 0.2–0.3 mm diameter. The ultra-fine scale and uniform geometry ensure deep integration with cementitious materials. Its copper coating improves corrosion resistance and electrical stability, making it ideal for ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), architectural facades, and precast structural elements.

Mechanical and Chemical Advantages

The fibers offer exceptional tensile strength exceeding 2500 MPa, outperforming many conventional reinforcement materials. Their small size and surface coating create high interface bonding, essential for effective microcrack control and load distribution. Copper coating acts as a barrier against oxidation, improving longevity in harsh environments such as marine or sulfate exposure zones.

 Optimized Performance in UHPC Applications

MS-6013 is specifically recommended for:

  • UHPC panels and façade components

  • Thin-walled precast concrete

  • Architectural finishes and 3D printed concrete

  • Tunnel segments and water-retaining structures

Its fine dispersion and high aspect ratio (\~65) support high ductility and post-crack performance, which are critical in HPC structural designs.

 Technical Characteristics and Dosage

Material: High-strength steel with copper coating

  • Length: 13 mm

  • Diameter: 0.2–0.3 mm

  • Aspect Ratio: 65

  • Tensile Strength: >2500 MPa

  • Dosage (UHPC): 156–314 kg/m³

The dosage varies based on structural requirements and ductility performance. PIONEER® offers dosage optimization services for different use cases.

 Engineering Standards and Global Use

PNE® MS-6013 complies with ASTM A820 and C1116, and has been used in prestigious UHPC projects globally, including bridges, facades, and metro systems. Its fine dimension allows easy compatibility with automated mixing and precast production, ensuring consistency in mass concrete manufacturing.
