Corrugated Steel Fiber Reinforcement for Concrete | PIONEER®
High-Tensile Wave-Shaped Steel Fibers for Crack Control, Flexural Toughness & Long-Term Durability
What Are PIONEER® Corrugated Steel Fibers?
PNE® SS-9054 Corrugated Steel Fibers are precision-engineered wave-shaped steel fibers designed for high-performance concrete, including SFRC (Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete) and UHPC (Ultra-High-Performance Concrete).
Unlike straight or crimped fibers, corrugated steel fibers feature alternating wave deformation, providing:
-
Strong mechanical anchorage
-
Excellent pull-out resistance under heavy loads
-
Superior crack bridging capability
-
Improved bonding within the cement matrix
-
Enhanced toughness, ductility, and energy absorption
This geometry makes corrugated steel fibers a powerful, cost-effective replacement for welded wire mesh and rebar in industrial flooring, precast products, pavements, tunneling, mining, and UHPC applications.

Applicable standards and test methods
PIONEER® steel fibers are developed with reference to internationally recognized standards for steel fiber products and fiber-reinforced concrete. Applicable standards and documentation depend on the product grade, intended application, project requirements, and destination market.
-
ASTM A820/A820M — Standard Specification for Steel Fibers for Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
-
ASTM C1116/C1116M — Standard Specification for Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
-
EN 14889-1:2006 — Fibres for Concrete — Part 1: Steel Fibres — Definitions, Specifications and Conformity
These standards provide technical references for steel fiber selection and use in precast concrete, industrial floors, shotcrete, and other fiber-reinforced concrete applications. Product suitability should be confirmed according to the project design, required performance, and applicable local regulations.

FAQ
PNE® SS-9054 is a corrugated steel fiber for fiber-reinforced concrete. It uses an alternating wave-shaped profile that distinguishes it from crimped, hooked-end and straight steel fiber geometries.
The corrugated profile creates repeated mechanical-interaction points between the steel fiber and the surrounding concrete matrix. Fibers crossing a crack plane can participate in crack bridging and post-crack load transfer.
Final dosage should follow the current PNE® SS-9054 TDS and should be selected according to the concrete application, required performance, applicable test method and project design.
It may be considered in selected applications where project design, performance testing and applicable approvals support reduction or substitution of conventional reinforcement. It is not a universal replacement for mesh or rebar.
It can be evaluated for selected pumped-concrete and shotcrete applications. Suitability should be confirmed according to fiber dimensions, dosage, concrete mix, batching sequence, pumping or placement requirements and the performance required by the project.
