High-Performance Fibers for Concrete are not one interchangeable product class. PVA, PAN, basalt, chopped carbon, anti-spalling polypropylene, and wood cellulose differ in material chemistry, geometry, surface behavior, intended function, and evidence requirements.

How to Compare High-Performance Fibers for Concrete

Begin with the project problem. Is the team evaluating tensile behavior in an engineered cementitious matrix, early-age crack control, fresh-state stability, fire-spalling risk, or another specialized requirement? Only then should it compare fiber candidates.


The High-Performance Fibers category organizes the six material families. For example, HPM PVA is a polyvinyl alcohol product, while HPM FR is a polypropylene product intended for fire-spalling assessment. Their functions should not be merged into a generic “high-performance” claim.


Evidence Before Selection

Review the current product grade, dimensions, dosage basis, mixing instructions, storage, and safety information. Then request test evidence that represents the proposed fiber, concrete or mortar matrix, dosage, specimen, curing, and test method.


Material properties alone do not establish performance in the finished element.


A production trial should check dosing, dispersion, workability, placement, finish, and the specified hardened or fire-related criteria. Final selection remains subject to the responsible engineer and applicable project requirements.
