What are micro synthetic fibers? In cementitious materials, the term generally describes small-diameter polymer fibers distributed throughout a mix. Products may use polypropylene (PP), polyester (PET) or another qualified polymer, and may be supplied as monofilament, fibrillated, ultra-fine or specially treated fibers.
What Are Micro Synthetic Fibers Used For?
Their intended role is product- and system-specific. Common evaluation targets include plastic-shrinkage crack control, cohesion, dispersion in mortar and compatibility with placing or finishing. These outcomes are conditional: mixture proportions, evaporation conditions, curing and workmanship still matter.

Main Forms
Monofilament PP consists of individual filaments and is commonly evaluated for concrete and mortar.
Fibrillated PP opens into a network-like form during mixing.
Ultra-fine fiber provides a high filament count by mass and may suit thin or fine cementitious systems after trials.
Self-dispersing grades are formulated for handling in selected dry blends.
PET fibers provide a different polymer option that must be assessed on its own documentation.

Know the Boundary
Microfibers should not automatically be described as structural reinforcement or a replacement for conventional steel. Where post-crack residual strength or structural capacity is required, the engineer must select a tested system and use the relevant design provisions.
Specify the fiber by material, geometry, intended function, dosage basis, mixing method and acceptance test—not by the word “micro” alone.
