PAN Fiber for Asphalt Pavements Reinforcement | PIONEER®

Premium PAN Fiber Solutions for Fiber-Reinforced Asphalt Mixtures

With exceptional thermal stability, high tensile strength, and superior bonding with asphalt binder, HGM® PAN enhances resistance to thermal cracking, rutting, fatigue, and deformation—extending pavement service life under heavy traffic and fluctuating temperatures.

What Is HGM® PAN Asphalt Fiber?

HGM® PAN is a specially engineered polyacrylonitrile fiber designed as a reinforcement additive for hot mix asphalt. It forms a three-dimensional micro-reinforcement network within the asphalt matrix, improving mixture stability, binder retention, and load distribution.

Compared with other synthetic fibers, PAN fibers offer outstanding heat resistance, enabling superior performance in high-temperature mixing and compaction environments.

Key Performance Enhancements:

  • Improved anti-cracking and thermal crack resistance

  • Higher stability during high-temperature asphalt mixing

  • Reduced drain-down in SMA and OGFC mixtures

  • Enhanced durability and fatigue life

  • Improved resistance to rutting and deformation

FAQ

  • PAN fiber is used to reinforce asphalt mixtures by improving resistance to cracking, rutting, and fatigue damage. It enhances the durability and performance of fiber-reinforced asphalt concrete (FRAC) in high-stress road applications.

  • PAN fibers disperse uniformly within the asphalt mix, forming a 3D reinforcement network that stabilizes the binder and aggregate structure. This reduces deformation, improves flexibility, and extends pavement service life.

  • The recommended dosage is 1–3 kg per ton of asphalt mix, depending on traffic load, climate, and pavement design.

  • Yes. PAN fibers can be added directly during the mixing stage and require no modifications to conventional hot mix or warm mix asphalt production.

  • No. When mixed properly, PAN fibers maintain workability and compaction efficiency while enhancing fiber-matrix bonding.
